First Edition 1923. Publisher's red cloth, very lightly rubbed to extremities and light fading to spine, light spotting to first and last leaves spotting to end blanks text and plates clean and very fresh and bright. An excellent copy.
Hugh Rees, London, 1930. First Edition 2 volumes xvi, 348pp. [ii] 349 pp 3 folding maps, 37 plates, 31 coloured after G E Lodge, Roland Green and H Gronvold. Very Good set , slight rubbing to extremities , hinges started but not cracked, light spotting to portrait frontis else clean and bright.
First Edition 1906 - 1913 one of only 500 sets published. 15 parts in 7 volumes plus the index volume. 413 plates (including 293a, without 58a omitted on publication as usual), a few only with light foxing. The best set we have seen with all ties and generally a Fine, bright and clean set.
Second Edition 1848 bound in later cream cloth, complete with all 60 plates in exquisite bright and clean condition with tissue guards. Some spotting to preliminaries, else excellent. Good, square and solid bindings, a couple of pages loosening, previous owner's gift inscription.
